# Custom functions

> Python functions extend automation apps with extraction, validation, integrations, and reusable logic across your organization.

Custom functions let you write Python code for specialized extraction, cleaning, validation, and integration inside automation projects and deployments. You use them wherever the product exposes a custom function editor—for example custom function fields, cleaning and validation steps, or deployment integrations.
